The two of them lay tangled up in bed, arms around each other. They’d spent all morning, and most of the afternoon there. At noon they’d finally gotten up and dressed to have lunch, before an attempt at showering forced them back to the warm, comfortable confines of their blankets and sheets.
“I have never,” Melanie said, smiling up into her husband’s face, “been so lazy in my entire life.”
“Nice, isn’t it?” Joe kissed her squarely on the mouth, pressing his body against hers.
Moments later, she whispered, “You know we have dinner reservations, right?”
Joe shrugged. “Who cares?”
