22 Storm

“We’d better hurry,” James said, glancing up at the dark sky.  “Looks like we’re in for some bad weather.”

They crossed the street against the light; it was almost empty of traffic.

“It’s starting to rain,” James warned, increasing his pace.

The skies opened up then, sidewalks becoming speckled, and then darkened by sheets of rain.  James started to run, before looking back at Naomi.  She was strolling along as though it was sunny and beautiful.

“Come on, James,” she called to him.  “Haven’t you ever done this before?”

“Gotten soaked?  Plenty of times.”

Naomi laughed.  “What’s one more then?”

Naomi Williams and James Knox.  Original characters.
