29 The Kindness (or not) of Strangers
It’s hard for him to remember that she was once a stranger to him. Everyone he’s ever met started out that way, but it seems harder to believe considering how closely he feels towards her now.
Not too many people would have considered saving his life, not in a crappy neighborhood like the one he was living in then. Few would have dared to frighten a group of vengeful gang members, and even fewer would have stayed to stop the bleeding. Then again, he suspects that her kindness is what made her his friend, and not just a Good Samaritan.
