Unlike what the movies tell you, taking a knife to the shoulder hurts like a bitch. Having it sterilized in the hospital an hour later hurts even worse. Basically, they rub a load of alcohol into the wound, until it burns like you’d set your arm on fire and not just gotten stabbed.
The stitches are the worst part. No matter how much they numb your arm, the steady, even movement of the needle and thread sewing your flesh back together again never fails to make you sick. When it’s over, it’s all you can do not to pass out.
James Knox. Original character.
