He hums a lot under his breath, but only when there’s music already playing. Naomi hasn’t ever heard him sing—he professes to be terrible at it—and it’s unlikely she ever will. James knows more songs than she could hope to learn in a lifetime, and his current favorite is usually always on his lips, in tune if not in words.
The first time she ever hears him sing, she’s on her fifth night with no sleep after an already terrible week. Though it’s not a happy song, she also knows she’ll never forget the sound of his voice.
