“Eek!”

“What’s wrong, Naomi!”

“That’s . . . that’s a huge frog.”

“A huge what?”

“A frog!  Look at the size of that thing, James.”

“And you’re afraid?  Like, actually afraid?”

“. . . no.  It just . . . startled me, that’s all.”

“Right.”

“Ah! “

“What?”

“It just hopped towards me.”

“Aw, it likes you.”

“Don’t even say that.”

“What if I gave it to you as a pet?  Wouldn’t you like the frog as a pet?”

“No!”

“I don’t get it.  You fight Renegades for your living, and you’re afraid of a frog?  You’re weird.”

“Shut up.”

Naomi Williams and James Knox.  Original characters.

  1. That made me giggle and think of the frogs I saw by the river last semester. HUGE. Also, you know, I like James a lot more now. Since finishing the book, I mean.

    • Excellent. I’m glad you like him better now. I confess, I’m at the very end of book two and kind of in love with him at this point. But that just might be the perspective in which I’m writing. 🙂
