61 Picture of fruit salad

“Pass me the strawberries.”

Nick reached over and handed the container to Tara.  “There’s space at seven o’clock,” he said, the time giving her a reference point on the already crowded counter.

“Thanks.”  She reached into the container of freshly washed fruit, selected one, and began to cut.

“Why are we making one of these again?”

“I told you, Mom’s hands are too arthritic to use a knife easily.  Dad’s put her in charge of desserts this year.”

“That’s good.  Your mom makes the best cookies.”

Tara laughed, dropping the fruit in the bowl.  “I’ll tell her you said so.”

Tara Foster and Nick Cartwright.  Original characters.
