The hurricane raged outside, but the party inside continued uninterrupted.  Everyone was laughing, drinking, telling stories.  The merriment was great enough that the hardship was all but ignored.  Such as it was, they all knew that things had not been easy for any of them.  Today, they chose to ignore this and enjoy themselves.

Only Naomi was not.  She stood near the window, watching the palm trees whip in the high wind.

“Come on,” Theo encouraged, calling to her.  “Join the fun.”

Naomi shook her head.  “He should’ve been here,” she muttered, before she went back to watching the storm.

Naomi Williams.  Original character.
