She had been called many names in her lifetime, most of them unflattering ones. Whore, slut, tramp, hussy. They no longer stung, unless she considered what her father would’ve thought. Only then did she feel any measure of shame.
It had been so long since the word ‘slut’ had bothered her, that when someone threw it her way, she usually just laughed. Whore no longer affected her at all. If that was the case, then why did this faceless, handsome man, this stranger calling her a jezebel with gentle mockery in his voice, suddenly make her want to do better?
