98 What’s Good for Me

It was late, nearly three a.m., but Naomi still couldn’t sleep.  James’s words continued to haunt her, long after she would’ve insisted she’d pushed them from her mind.  What was good for her . . . She hadn’t considered what was good for herself in years.  It was about the Hunters.  It was always about the Hunters.

He was good for her, she knew that.  Every time she’d had to push James away, she was struck with the wrongness of it.  Hell, he was better for her than her job was.  Too bad she needed the job to continue surviving.

Naomi Williams.  Original characters.
